Can the skins and plugins be used under cPanel?

Yes, our skins and plugins can be used under cPanel. There are two ways of installing them:

1. INSTALLING INTO CPANEL'S ROUNDCUBE

If you have root access to the server, you can install your skins and plugins directly into cPanel's Roundcube. It's located in this directory: /usr/local/cpanel/base/3rdparty/roundcube

Just follow the installation steps outlined in the skins/plugins.

Note that running Roundcube under cPanel introduces some restrictions:

a) You will never see the Roundcube login screen. The users will log in to Roundcube using cPanels login screen. This means that if you want to have a login screen with your logo or display full-screen images on the login screen like on our demo (http://demo.roundcubeplus.com) you won't be able to do it.

b) cPanel will display a bar at the top of the Roundcube screen that you won't be able to remove.

c) cPanel will restrict the functionality of some plugins. For example, you won't be able to use the calendar plugin's CalDAV server or calendar publishing.

If you don't have root access to your server or you'd like to eliminate the restrictions mentioned above, you can install your own version of Roundcube.

2. INSTALLING INTO YOUR OWN ROUNDCUBE

You should remember that Roundcube is an email READER, it doesn't store or send your emails; it simply connects to the email server that does all that work. So when you install a new version of Roundcube and connect it to the same email server that your cPanel's Roundcube works with, you will see the same emails.

The only thing that will be different is the content stored in the Roundcube's database: user settings, contacts, and identities. If you're starting from scratch and your users haven't been accessing cPanel's Roundcube yet, this is not a problem.

If you're not starting from scratch, and don't want to lose all the user settings, you can either make a copy of your current Roundcube database, or set up your new Roundcube to access your old database. But this topic is beyond the scope of this document.

Installing Roundcube is pretty simple. Follow these steps:

a) Create a subdomain.

b) Download the complete version of Roundcube from here:

https://roundcube.net/download

and extract the files into your subdomain's directory.

c) Navigate to <your_subdomain_url>/installer to start the Roundcube installation wizard.

d) Install all the skins/plugin you like by following their installation instructions.

Enjoy all the benefits of having Roundcube under your complete control!
